After high school graduation, Karounka attended Estrella Mountain Community College. He graduated, with distinction, with an Associate degree in General Studies/Arts and transferred to Arizona State University to further his education.
While attending Arizona State University, Karounka became a resident advisor and kept true to his commitment and belief of promoting a positive community experience; with inclusion and leadership at the forefront. In this role, he also became involved in many different student-led organizations that provided open forums and opportunities for social advancement throughout the community. Karounka lead as a role model, offering guidance to individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Students valued his approachable nature and viewed him as an asset as he helped them navigate through college life.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in (B.S.) in Life Sciences, Karounka went on to attend Midwestern University in Glendale to obtain his Master’s degree in (M.S.) Cardiovascular Science-Perfusion and a second Masters in Healthcare Administration (M.H.A) from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Outside of class, Karounka dedicated his free time towards politics in Arizona, researching and evaluating community needs in the various cities, to better understand and identify areas where improvement could best be applied and accomplished.
